Published by "Methil Communist Pit Group" then "Methil CP and YCL" & finally as "Wellesley Spark" in 1932 for at least 4 months by "Militant Section Wellesley Workers". Initially, largely the work of David Proudfoot. First issue sold 240 copies; one year later 1,000. Possibly the most influential pit paper.

While the "DW" was banned, Jan 1941 to Aug 1942, a series of "papers" with titles like "Unity Campaign Special", "Allied Offensive Special", "Stalin Birthday Special", "Production Special", "Greenock Election Special" etc. were issued by the Scottish DC to replace the Scottish edition of the "DW"; only on rare occasions were the names used for more than one issue (did this avoid declaring them as a newspaper?). Undated and un-numbered.
